How long does a stye last?
By Forinfos - 12/01/2026 - 0 comments
Most styes take only a few days to heal when treated properly, according to WebMD. Some more severe styes may require minor surgery to drain all remaining pus.
The recommended way to eliminate a stye quickly and safely is to use a warm compress over the affected eye for about 15 minutes, two to four times per day, according to WebMD. Even when the stye is nearing rupture, a consistent and very warm compress should be kept on the area. It is important to let the rupture take its course and not try to force or squeeze the stye. If an infection spreads from a stye, treatment with antibiotics is required.
