How long does it take for the Sun to go around the Earth?

The Sun does not revolve around the Earth; instead, the Earth orbits the Sun one time per year. Each orbit takes 365.256 days. Each of Earth's rotations takes one day.
As many as one-fourth of Americans believe the Sun revolves around the Earth, but this is the opposite of what happens. The Earth rotates, or spins, on its slightly tilted axis, moving around the Sun on a yearly revolution pattern. This pattern resembles a spinning top circling in a round arena. The reason people do not feel the spinning or moving is because the Earth's rotation is imperceptible to human beings.
