How long do tiger barbs live?

Tiger barbs will live about six years in a well-maintained aquarium. They are an easy species to care for, and are suitable for those with little experience.

Tiger barbs do best when kept in groups of five or more. They need room to swim and places to hide, like rocks or driftwood. Plants should be near the aquarium's edges to provide space to swim. Tiger barbs eat a mix of vegetable-based flake food, freeze-dried food and live food. Tiger barbs prefer water that is soft and slightly acidic. They can tolerate temperatures between 68 and 82 degrees Fahrenheit with a preferred range between 74 and 79 degrees Fahrenheit.
