According to the company website, as of 2014 the common side effects include mild pain, bruising or skin redness at the site of injection. Mayo Clinic states that individuals need to inform their doctors if they have any medical problems, including hypertension, kidney disease, diabetic retinopathy or stomach ulcer, as these conditions may affect the use of Lovenox. As of 2014, Lovenox is available by prescription only.
