What is the main cause of osteoporosis?
By Forinfos - 10/09/2025 - 0 comments
The loss of bone mass as people age is the common driving force of osteoporosis. As people age, especially beyond their 20s, higher levels of bones breaking down relative to new bone development contributes to this condition, according to WebMD.
Women are more likely to get osteoporosis than men, according to Mayo Clinic. Low estrogen is a common cause. Low testosterone levels in men can also contribute to osteoporosis. Hormone imbalances and a lack of calcium are other contributors, reports WebMD. Risks go up with age, and people of white or Asian descent have heightened risks. A family history of this condition and a small body frame are other factors.
