Ballistics gel is easy to make and requires only a few steps. Begin by slowly mixing gelatin power and water over a medium heat until watery and clear. Refrigerate for at least two hours until solid. Re-heat the solution over a low to medium heat until melted. Pour the mixture in to a mold and refrigerate for twenty-four to thirty-six hours.
- Gather materials
Gather gelatin powder, cold water, mold, and cooking spray or another non-stick solution. Measure 8 ounces of water to 1 ounce of powder.
- Mix the gelatin in water
Slowly pour the powder in to the water and stir well. If the water is too hot, clumps may form.
- Heat the mixture
Place the mixture over a medium heat until it becomes watery and clear. Do not heat to a boil, as boiling forms air bubbles.
- Cool the mixture
Turn the heat off, and cool the mixture for several minutes. Place the gel in a refrigerator for about two hours to solidify.
- Melt the gel
Once chilled, melt the mixture over a low to medium heat, stirring constantly to avoid clumping.
- Chill the mixture
Spray a mold with a non-stick solution. Pour the mixture in the mold, and refrigerate for 24 to 36 hours.
