How do you make a dunce cap?

To make a dunce cap, draw a large circle on a sheet of poster board. Cut out the circle, and then cut out a pie-shaped section from the circle with the tip of the slice touching the center of the circle. Join the two straight edges so that the center of the circle becomes the tip of the hat. Secure with clear packaging tape.

1. Draw a large circle

   Lay a sheet of poster board on a firm surface. Cut a piece of string to 3/4 the width of the poster board. Tie a pencil to one end of the string near the lead. Place your thumb on the opposite end of the string at the center of the poster board. Position the tip of the pencil straight down on the paper, and draw a large circle.

2. Cut out a pie shape

   Use sharp scissors to cut around the edge of circle. Cut two straight lines from the edge to the center point as if you're cutting a slice of pie. Make the cut-out slice approximately 1/4 of the circle.

3. Fold and tape

   Touch the two straight edges together to form a cone. Overlap the poster board to correctly fit the person's head for whom the cap is intended. Secure the overlapping edges with sturdy tape.
