How do you make homemade nail polish thinner?

Nail polish remover can be created by placing two or three drops of nail lacquer thinner into a bottle of nail polish. Running the bottle of nail polish under hot water can also thin the polish.

After running the bottle under hot water, the bottle should be hand-rolled instead of shaken. This keeps air bubbles from forming in the polish. The bottle should be run under hot water until the nail polish is a good consistency. Mixing acetone or nail polish remover in with the polish does make the nail polish thinner. However, it breaks down the polish ingredients and causes it to wear off the nails faster.
