To make scented ironing water, also called linen water, simmer flower blossoms in an ice-covered pot, collect the condensation, add vodka, and bottle the mixture. This one-hour process requires a mug, a stove, flower blossoms, distilled water, ice, a lidded pot, bowls and a decanter.
- Simmer the blossoms
Fill a coffee mug with flower blossoms. Set a pot on the stove, add the blossoms, and set an empty bowl in the middle of the pot. Pour in enough distilled water to cover the blossoms, but leave the bowl empty. Bring the mixture to a simmer, invert the pot lid, and set it upside down on top of the pot. Fill the lid with ice.
- Collect the condensation
Simmer the blossoms for several minutes, and then remove the lid. Lift out the collection bowl, dump the contents into another bowl, and return the collection bowl to the pot. If the blossoms are almost dry, add more water. Repeat this cycle several times, then move the pot to a cool burner, and turn off the stove.
- Add vodka
Add 3 tablespoons of vodka to the blossom water, and let the mixture sit until it returns to room temperature.
- Bottle the scented liquid
Pour the ironing water into a decanter and store for up to six weeks.
