How do I make Silly Putty?

Make your own Silly Putty by following a few simple steps. This process takes only 10 minutes and requires glue, liquid starch, food coloring, a mixing bowl and a paper towel.
Combine the ingredients
Pour glue into a mixing bowl. Add food coloring to the glue, mixing until the color is thoroughly spread throughout the glue. Elmer's multipurpose glue is recommended. Pour the liquid starch into the mixture, and stir. Not all kinds of starch react to the glue, so use Sta-Flo concentrated liquid starch, or experiment until you find a starch that works.
Let the mixture sit
Allow the mixture to sit and rest for 5 minutes in order for the materials to react and bind together.
Knead the putty
Set a paper towel down on a flat surface. Pull the putty out of the bowl, scrapping the sides to get all the remnants, and set it on the paper towel. Knead the putty for 5 to 10 more minutes to finish the binding process.
Play with the putty
After kneading, play with the putty. You can squeeze it into different shapes, roll it into a ball to bounce it off of walls, or flatten the putty to a newspaper and copy the print onto the putty.
