The U.S. Department of Agriculture reports that a single slice of cheese pizza from a regular crust 14-inch pie has 285 calories, while the entire pie has 2,269 calories. Additional toppings on pizza increase the caloric content and other nutrients.

A 14-inch pizza with cheese and pepperoni, for example, has 313 calories per slice. The pepperoni adds 28 calories per serving. Pizza has a negative image as being an unhealthy food. It generally contains excessive quantities of salt, fat, calories and carbohydrates. A 14-inch cheese pizza contains 12 grams of protein per slice, which is approximately 20 percent of the daily intake recommended by the USDA.
