How many carbs are in a glass of red wine?

There are between 3.5 and 4 carbs per 5-ounce serving of dry red wine. A 5-ounce serving of Zinfandel is about 4.2 grams and dessert wines have between 12 and 14 grams of carbs. The higher the carbohydrate count, the higher the calorie count.

The dryer the wine, the lower the carb count the wine has. This is because during the fermentation process, the yeast eats up the carbohydrates, creating alcohol. Distilled spirits have few to no carbs left because all of the sugars have been eaten up by the yeast. Liqueurs have added sugar and can have a very high carb count.
