Female king cobras can lay between 20 and 50 eggs at a time. They lay their eggs in a mound and cover them with leaves to keep them protected.
King cobras are large, venomous snakes that grow between 9 and 18 feet long. Their mating season typically runs from January through April and during that time, the female constructs a nest in which to lay her eggs. After the eggs have been laid, she fiercely protects them until they hatch. Hatching occurs within 60 to 80 days and the babies can range in size from 18 to 50 inches in length.
