It is estimated that over 3 million people died during the Vietnam War. The majority of these deaths were civilians on both sides of the conflict, totaling over 2 million people.
In addition to the civilian deaths, Vietnam estimates that 1.1 million North Vietnamese and Viet Cong fighters were killed. The United States estimates that anywhere from 200,000 to 250,000 South Vietnamese fighters were killed during the war. The United States also lost over 58,000 servicemen and women during the conflict. Other countries suffered losses as well. South Korea suffered over 4,000 deaths, with Australia and New Zealand losing over 500 servicemen and Thailand losing around 350 people.
