How many pilgrims were on the Mayflower?

The Mayflower carried 102 passengers, roughly 40 of them Pilgrims, from England to North America in 1620. The Pilgrims, who referred to themselves as "Saints," were Protestant Separatists hoping to create a church in the New World.

The voyage from England to North America took 66 days. The first month was uneventful except for episodes of seasickness, but the second month of the voyage featured treacherous storms. Despite these conditions, the Mayflower reached its destination just north of the Hudson River. The Pilgrims then built a settlement in Plymouth, where over half of the settlers died during the first winter.
