How many seas are there?

Traditionally, the number seven in relation to seas is used to refer to all the oceans and seas in the world; however, over a hundred bodies of water possess the name sea. All but four seas are a part of or connect to larger oceans.

The Atlantic Ocean has 35 smaller bodies of water it touches called seas; the Pacific has 33 seas; the Arctic has 12 seas; the Southern Ocean has 14 seas; the Indian Ocean has five seas. The four seas that are landlocked are the Aral Sea, Caspian Sea, Dead Sea and Salton Sea. The two largest seas are the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.
