The U.S. Department of Agriculture's recommendations for servings of grain per day vary by age and gender. For instance, a man who is 31 to 50 years old should get about 7 ounces of grain per day. A woman of the same age requires about 6 ounces per day.
Seven ounces of grain equal about three to seven servings, which is the average daily amount for an adult. Toddlers, on the other hand, only require about 3 ounces, the equivalent of one to three servings. Overall, about half of the grains any person consumes should come from whole grains, which provide more fiber.
