Out of the 140 species of land snake and 30 additional species of sea snake that are native to Australia, approximately 100 are venomous. The two most venomous snakes in the world, the Inland Taipan and the Eastern Brown Snake, both live in Australia.
Though these may seem like terrifying facts, only a dozen of those 100 venomous snakes have venom powerful enough to kill a human. Moreover, snake bites are relatively rare in Australia. Fewer than 10 people actually die from snake bite each year.
According to Australia Geographic, most people who suffer venomous snake bites in Australia are on the receiving end of a defensive bite. Avoiding snake bite in Australia seems to have a relatively simple solution. Should you happen to stumble upon one most venomous snakes in the world: don't provoke it.Related Articles
