As of 2015, there have been 4,492 U.S. combat deaths in Iraq and 2,363 U.S. combat deaths in Afghanistan. The conflict in Iraq is known as Operation Iraqi Freedom, while the conflict in Afghanistan is known as Operation Enduring Freedom.
The conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan have been fought by coalition military forces from several countries including the United States. In addition to U.S. combat deaths, there have been 179 U.K. deaths and 140 deaths from other coalition forces for a total of 4,811 coalition combat deaths in the Iraqi conflict. The United Kingdom and other coalition forces report 453 and 677 deaths, respectively, for a total of 3,493 combined combat deaths in the Afghanistan conflict.
