How many work hours are there per year?

According to the Organization for Economic Co-Development, the average number of actual work hours in the United States, per worker per year was 1,790 in 2012. In 2000, the average was 1,836 for the United States.

In 2012, the highest average number of work hours annually in an OECD country was 2,226 in Mexico. Greeks were in second place, with an annual average of 2,034 hours. Chile and Russia were in third and fourth places, respectively, with 2,029 and 1,982 work hours on average. The Dutch worked the least among OECD countries, with an average of 1,381 hours. For 2012, the average for all OECD countries combined was 1,765 annual hour per employee.
