What are examples of plane figures?

Some examples of plane figures are triangles, rectangles, squares, rhombuses, parallelograms, circles, ovals, hearts, pentagons and hexagons. A plane figure is a flat figure with closed lines that stays in a single plane. The lines of the figure can be straight, curved or a combination.

Examples of plane figures in everyday life are paper, rugs, floors, the glass in mirrors, the glass in picture frames, table surfaces and doors. Plane figures cannot be composed of wavy lines.

A figure whose points lie in different planes is called a space figure. A space figure is a three-dimensional figure. Some examples of space figures are pyramids, spheres, cubes, rectangular prisms, cones and cylinders.
