In 2015, New York City's mayor, also known as its chief executive officer and magistrate, has a salary of $225,000 per year. The current mayor is Bill de Blasio, who was elected mayor for a term of four years at the general election on November 5, 2013, which concludes on December 31, 2017.
By comparison, New York City's mayor prior to de Blasio, Michael Bloomberg, had an official salary of $195,000, but he declined it and agreed to be paid $1 annually instead. The first deputy mayor, Anthony Shorris, makes more than the mayor as of 2015; his salary is $245,760. Other deputy mayors earn slightly less than the mayor at $212,614.
