How do you measure the rise on a pair of pants?

The measurement between the top of the waistband to the middle of the crotch seam is considered the rise on a pair of pants. Purchasing pants with the desired rise is important because tailoring this area is often difficult and expensive.

1. Lay the pants on a flat surface

   Laying the pants flat, line up the front and back waistlines so that they are even.

2. Measure from the top of the waistband to the center of the crotch seam on the front

   To measure the front rise on a pair of paints, measure the distance from the top of the waistband to the center of the crotch seam on the front of the pants by using measuring tape or a ruler.

3. Measure from the top of the waistband to the center of the crotch seam on the back

   To measure the back rise on a pair of pants, flip the pants over and measure the distance from the top of the waistband to the center of the crotch seam on the back of the pants.
