What are some mild COPD symptoms?

Symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease include a cough that does not go away and often results in coughing up mucus, shortness of breath and tightness in the chest, notes WebMD. These milder symptoms are indicative of COPD, but when COPD flares up, exacerbated symptoms often occur, including more pronounced shortness of breath, an increased tightening feeling in the chest and a change in the color and consistency of mucus expelled.
COPD attacks or flares are often the result of infections such as pneumonia and acute bronchitis, reports WebMD. COPD patients can prepare for flares and worsening symptoms by having a pre-arranged treatment plan in place.
