By Forinfos - 12/02/2025 - 0 comments
A mineral oil enema works as a lubricating laxative and provides relief from constipation, according to Drugs.com. It can also be used following other treatments, such as a barium enema, in order to cleanse the bowel from any remaining residue.
Drugs.com further mentions that mineral oil enemas are not to be used by people who are allergic to any of the ingredients, who are bedridden or who suffer from blocked intestines or appendicitis. Patients who are breastfeeding, who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, who are taking any other medicine or who are suffering from conditions such as nausea, vomiting, rectal bleeding or stomach pain should ask their doctor before using a mineral oil enema.
