What is the minimum wage in North Carolina?

According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, the minimum wage of North Carolina is the same as the federal minimum wage, $7.25, as of 2014. There are no scheduled increases to the North Carolina minimum wage, as inflation-indexed minimum wage bills failed in both the House and Senate.
The National Conference of State Legislatures states that North Carolina matches 17 other states, the Virgin Islands and Guam in matching the federal minimum wage in 2014. Washington D.C. and 23 other states have minimum wages higher than $7.25. Three states, American Samoa and Puerto Rico have state minimum wages less than the federal minimum wage; thus, pay in those states defaults to the federal minimum.
