The "Mona Lisa" is part of the permanent collection of the Louvre Museum in Paris. As of 2014, the painting is located on the first floor of the Louvre's Denon Wing in the Mona Lisa Room.
Italian artist Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci is credited with painting the "Mona Lisa" in Florence between 1503 and 1506. Many of the details regarding the painting's subject and origins are unclear, but the painting is believed to be a portrait of the wife of the Florentine merchant Francesco del Giocondo. "Mona Lisa" measures 0.53 meter wide by 0 .77 meter high, and it is alternately titled "La Gioconda."
