Established by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, FamilySearch is a non-profit organization devoted to preserving genealogical records and family histories. It offers its services for free, has recorded billions of names and features thousands of library branches or family history centers across the globe.
Using a combination of microfilm, microfiche and digital records, FamilySearch has genealogical records that go back for centuries. The organization keeps all records safely in its preservation facility, called Granite Mountain Records Vault, in Utah. It also offers record custodians to capture and digitize images and store them in databases that can be searched online.
