An actuary makes anywhere from an average of $60,000 per year to $150,000 per year or more. The average national yearly salary for an actuary in May 2012 was $93,680 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The amount of money that an actuary can expect to make per year depends on the specific industry that the actuary is working in, the actuary's experience and how advanced the actuary's education is. An Actuary I is designated as a beginning actuary and is expected to make an annual salary close to the low end of the range. An Actuarial Fellow is very advanced in the career and more often makes a salary closer to $150,000 or more per year.
