How much do Americans spend on fast food each year?

Every year, the average American spends $1,200 on fast food. A OnePoll 2014 survey of 1,000 adults revealed that Americans eat fast food on average twice a week, spending $12.50 on each meal. Equally revealing is that burgers, fried chicken and pizza are ordered the most, and about half of Americans consume soda every day.

In 2013, Americans spent $117 billion at fast-food restaurants, such as McDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Pizza Hut.

Every day, at least 1 in 4 Americans eat some type of low-cost, high-speed cuisine with very little nutritional value. These habits have been linked to weight gain and poor health.
