According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics, an animal nutritionist earns an average annual salary of $60,180 as of 2013. However, individual earnings for all food scientists are largely dependent upon years of experience, educational background and particular job requirements.

The BLS also shows that an animal nutritionist working in the animal food manufacturing industry earned an average pay of $70,060 in 2011. According to Education-portal, a scientist offering support for an animal production firm earns an average of $115,650. The BLS shows that nutritionists working in the grain and oilseed milling industry do not earn the same as those working in dairy product manufacturing.
