By Forinfos - 22/03/2025 - 0 comments
The average weight for one boneless, skinless chicken breast lobe is 5.25 ounces. Therefore, a full breast, or double lobe, weighs 10.50 ounces. This is an increase since 1980, when the average lobe weighed just 4 ounces.
Typically, farmers are raising larger chickens than in previous decades. The average live weight of a broiler chicken is 5.3 pounds, which is more than a pound heavier than the same type of chicken in 1994. Some broilers reach 7 to 8 pounds. In addition, the breast meat section of a chicken is a greater percentage of the overall bird than it used to be. A standard package of boneless, skinless chicken breasts in the supermarket averages 1.5 to 1.8 pounds.
