Approximately 600 million pounds of candy are sold in the U.S. each year for Halloween, with 90 million pounds of that being chocolate sold just during the week immediately preceding Halloween. Americans spend $1.9 billion on Halloween candy each year.
Halloween is the top candy-selling holiday in the United States, well above Valentine's Day, when 48 million pounds of candy is sold, and Easter, which has 65 million pounds sold. Ten percent of the candy industry's total annual sales occur just before Halloween. The top-selling individual candy type is candy corn, which sells 20 million pounds each year. The runners-up in popularity are Snickers bars, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Kit-Kat bars and M&Ms.
