The amount of car insurance a person needs depends on the type of cover needed. This will also depend on the state that a person lives in.

As of January 2015, auto liability insurance is required in every state with the exception of New Hampshire. The auto liability insurance includes a property damage policy, which covers for other people's cars or property, and a bodily injury policy that pays for the medical bills of other people. Some states also need a person to have personal injury coverage. There are also other additional policies that a person can opt for, including towing and labor coverage, rental car reimbursement and MedPay, among others.
