It costs $33 to renew a class C driver's license at the California DMV, as of October 2015. It is also $33 for an original driver's license or motorcycle license.
It costs $27 to get a duplicate class C driver's license or a name change on the license. The behind-the-wheel retest is $7. To renew or get an original class A or B non-commercial driver's license costs $34. Commercial class A or B renewals cost $42, while the original license costs $71. Commercial class C driver's license renewals also cost $42. Licenses can be renewed online unless a written test, behind-the-wheel test or vision test is required.
