At the end of January 2014, the monthly mean home sale price was $187,900, down $9,800 from the end of the previous year, notes YCharts. At the end of June, the average price of a U.S. home was $222,000, and by the end of November, it had fallen to $205,400. In general, 2014 was a significantly better year for home prices across the United States; until May 2013, they had been well below $200,000 for at least four years.
