The basic pay of a marine does not increase after he is married; however, benefits do extend to a married marine and his spouse. These benefits include a tax-free housing allowance and medical care, as reported by About.com.

A married marine is also entitled to a Family Separation Allowance if he is separated from his spouse due to military orders. About.com indicates that this allowance starts appearing in the marine's pay after 30 days of separation.

In addition, the government covers any moving expenses for a married military member and his or her dependents to his or her first duty station.
