How much does a passport cost?

A new passport book costs $110 if the applicant is 16 or older and a passport card costs $30. These amounts are subject to change and are valid as of March, 2015.

Passports for children under the age of 16 are $15 for the card and $80 for the book. Applicants can make their check or money order out to the U.S. Department of State.

After submitting the proper identification and passport application form, applicants can expect to receive their passports in 4 to 6 weeks from the time of application. For an extra fee, expedited service can cut that time down to around 3 weeks.
