How much does a penguin weigh?

Emperor penguins, the largest species of penguins, weigh between 60 and 90 pounds. The smallest species of penguins, Little Blue penguins, weigh between 2 and 5 pounds. There are 17 different species of penguins in the world.

All species of penguins have a variation of the tuxedo-like black-and-white coloring that acts as an ocean camouflage, protecting them from predators and hiding them from prey. When seen from above while swimming, the penguin's black back blends with the darkness of the sea floor, and when seen from below, the penguin's white front blends with the bright light above the surface of the water.
