The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that pharmacy technicians earned $30,840 per year on average as of May 2013. The median income for these workers was $29,650 per year. Ten percent made $20,640 or less, while the top 10 percent earned $43,230 or more.
Among the largest employment sectors, pharmacy technicians in hospital settings averaged $35,210 per year as of May 2013. In traditional pharmacies or health care stores, the average pay was $29,220. The District of Columbia had the highest average pay among states and territories at $42,910. The state of Washington was next at $39,910, followed by California at $39,570 annually.
