A pharmacy technician is a healthcare professional who works under a licensed pharmacist to provide prescription medication to clients. They work in pharmacies and hospitals and most work in a full-time position.
A person must have a high school diploma in order to become a pharmacy technician. They acquire skills and knowledge through on-the-job training. A pharmacy technician may also be required to complete a post-secondary education course. Typically, all states require a pharmacy technician to be trained and have formal education in order to work in a pharmacy. As of 2012, the annual salary of a pharmacy technician was $29,320.
