Consumers who feel their service was exceptional can tip more than 20 percent. In some cases, gift cards can also be used to go toward tips. One exception to tipping someone for a massage is if the masseur is the owner of the establishment. If a massage is in a resort spa that adds a service fee, consumers may still want to tip as not all of the fee goes to the therapist.
