Bell Atlantic Corporation merged with GTE Corporation in June 2000 to form Verizon Communications. Bell Atlantic stock began trading under the Verizon name at that point. The dividend payments after the formation of Bell Atlantic in 1984 totaled $0.80 per share, increasing to $1.54 per share in 1999, the last full year the stock traded as Bell Atlantic.
