What do you take for muscle inflammation?

An effective way to treat muscle inflammation is to take a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, or NSAID. Examples of common over-the-counter NSAIDs are ibuprofen and aspirin. NSAIDs are one of the most commonly used drugs for fighting inflammation, as WebMD explains.
NSAIDs work by blocking prostaglandins, chemicals in the body that contribute to inflammation. They are effective at reducing swelling as well as the inflammation associated with sprains and muscle strain. NSAIDs can also be taken for chronic inflammation such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, as the American College of Rheumatology points out. They should be monitored by a doctor when used to treat chronic pain.
