When is the Muslim holiday Eid al-Fitr?

Eid al-Fitr occurs at the end of Ramadan. It is a three-day celebration when families and friends come together to feast and exchange gifts. The date on the Gregorian calendar when Eid al-Fitr occurs varies annually, as it is based on the start and end date of Ramadan.

Eid al-Fitr was created by the Prophet Muhammad following his pilgrimage from Mecca to Medinah. During the celebration, two units of prayer must be offered while within a large hall or open field.

Eid al-Fitr is also known as the Feast of Breaking the Fast since it marks the end of fasting that is required throughout Ramadan.
