What is the name of a brown and black songbird?

The common starling, or European starling, is a songbird with brown and black plumage that is accompanied by white spots in the winter. According to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the common starling may feature purplish-green iridescence in the summer.

In the 19th century, the common starling was brought to America by Shakespeare enthusiasts. A cosmopolitan bird, it inhabits towns, suburbs and the countryside. Its diet includes invertebrates small enough to be caught. Berries, grains and seeds also constitute a significant portion of its food. Males construct nests in available dwellings such as buildings, street lamps, or woodpecker holes in order to attract females.
