Common black birds with yellow beaks that live in North America include the European starling and the yellow-billed magpie. The yellow-billed magpie is not entirely black, however. Most black birds, such as Brewer's blackbird, grackles, crows and ravens, have all-black bills.
The European starling was introduced to North America in the 1800s. Their young have dark bills until they reach full maturity. Yellow-billed magpie are native to parts of California's Central Valley and are related to crows and jays. Unlike the young starlings, their young have yellow bills right from hatching. The yellow-billed magpie's cousin, the black-billed magpie, is almost identical except for the color of its bill
