"When My Name Was Keoko" is a book by Linda Sue Park that was published in 2002 by Clarion Books. It is a young adult novel that depicts the struggles of a Korean family living under the rule of Japan from 1940 to 1945.
"When My Name Was Keoko" is derived from the experiences of the author's parents as they resist Japan's law, which is enforced to eradicate Korean culture. The novel, set in World War II, is written from the viewpoint of two siblings, Tae-yul and Sun-hee. The book was selected as the Best Book for Young Adults and a Notable Children's Book by the American Library Association in 2003.
