All Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings follow the 12-step guidelines, though some meetings are more focused on that aspect of the organization than others, according to ChooseHelp. For example, some meetings are called 12 Step and 12 Tradition Study and are geared toward analyzing and following the steps.
NA is a 12-step program based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). People who attend meetings are encouraged to learn and practice the 12 steps, sometimes returning to the same steps repeatedly as they work through their addictions, according to Recovery. However, everyone has a different experience in NA and attendees are not required to behave a certain way in order to participate.
