What is a narwhal's habitat?

Narwhals live in the Arctic Ocean in the areas near Russia and the Atlantic Ocean. They have been found as far east as eastern Russia and as far south as Greenland.

Narwhals are classified as near threatened, with a worldwide population of fewer than 50,000. They can grow up to 18 feet long and weigh as much as 1.8 tons. These animals can live approximately 50 years in the wild, and they are carnivores. In winter, narwhals live further away from the shore and stay under the ice, but in summer, they are likely to approach the shores. The social animals live together in groups called pods.
